How iStore Hot Water Heat Pumps Work

An iStore is a system that stores energy in the form of heat.

It works by drawing in air from outside, which contains heat energy.
This air is then passed over the evaporator, which turns the liquid refrigerant into a gas. The refrigerant is then pressurised into a hot gas by the compressor unit.
This hot gas is then passed through the condenser coil. The coil heats the water inside the coil-wrapped tank.
As the water is heated, the refrigerant reverts back to a liquid and continues to the evaporator for the process to start again.
This cycle continues until the set target temperature is achieved.
Once the water in the tank has been used, the cycle will restart once the temperature has dropped below 45 °C.

Here’s how the iStore 180 works

Here’s how the iStore 270 works

Air is drawn in through the iStore 270L's fan, passing across the evaporator.
As the heat energy contained within the air is transferred across the evaporator. This causes the refrigerant to change from a liquid into a gas.
This gas is then pressurised by the compressor into a hot gas.
The hot gas circulates through the condenser coil, where it heats the water inside the coil-wrapped tank.
After heating up the water, the refrigerant reverts back into a liquid and continues on to the evaporator where the cycle starts all over again.
The process continues until the target temperature is reached.
