How iStore Hot Water Systems Work

An iStore is a system that stores energy in the form of heat.

  • It works by drawing in air from outside, which contains heat energy.
  • This air is then passed over the evaporator, which turns the liquid refrigerant into a gas. The refrigerant is then pressurised into a hot gas by the compressor unit.
  • This hot gas is then passed through the condenser coil. The coil heats the water inside the coil-wrapped tank.
  • As the water is heated, the refrigerant reverts back to a liquid and continues to the evaporator for the process to start again.
  • This cycle continues until the set target temperature is achieved.
  • Once the water in the tank has been used, the cycle will restart once the temperature has dropped below 45 °C.
